INTRODUCTION

The Climate Change Directorate (CCD) of the Forestry Commission doubles as the National REDD+ Secretariat (NRS)

MANDATE

The mandate of the Directorate is to assist the Forestry Commission to achieve its overall mission and vision by designing climate change mitigation/adaptation plans and strategies for the Forestry Sector of Ghana, while promoting sustainable development




GOVERNANCE ARRANGEMENT

A Director Heads the CCD and is responsible for the day-today coordination of activities.

There is a National REDD+ Working Group (NRWG) with membership drawn from various relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that provide overall oversight for REDD+ implementation.

Also, a number of Sub-Working Groups (SWG) drawn from relevant technical inclinations provide thematic technical backstopping for the different portfolios within the Directorate.

The Directorate also works closely with key stakeholders including development partners, civil society, traditional authorities, private sector and local communities among others to implement REDD+ actions in Ghana.
