F. LOWERING EMISSIONS BY ACCELERATING FOREST FINANCE – LEAF
Ghana signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to reduce deforestation, with Emergent, under the Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest Finance (LEAF) Coalition in 2021 and as a result, the REDD+ Secretariat has been engaging the LEAF coalition on developing a registration document and monitoring report for the LEAF area.
The Leaf area adopts a nested approach that covers the regions south of the Northern Savanna Landscape except the Greater Accra.
The LEAF uses the Architecture for REDD+ Transaction’s Standard – The REDD+ Environmental Excellence Standard (ART-TREES)
Technical support received from UN-REDD agencies (FAO and UNEP) in the development of the Registration document and Monitoring Report
Data collection for the LEAF area (using the sample based approach) has been completed
A consultant has been hired to assist in the development of a second summary of information
